After graduating from the University of Canberra Peta began her career with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2010. She worked in India to manage Australia’s reputation as a safe destination for international students and in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Turkey to implement Australia’s new system for live exports, before taking up a diplomatic posting in Brazil from 2013 to 2016, where she led on domestic political reporting and Australia’s cultural, environmental, education, science and technology links with Brazil. As Consul, she also helped manage the needs of Australians in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics and Paralympics.
On her return to Australia, Peta choreographed Australia’s priorities for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in London, which took place in April 2018. She is now policy lead for the UN General Assembly’s Leaders’ Week, which will take place in late September.
